The lights dimmed, the fans rose and put their hands over their hearts as Ryan & 9 more classmates stepped onto the ice. Then, as one, the classmates sang:
Oh say can you see, By the Dawn's Early Light
What's so proudly we hail, At the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes & Bright stars, Through the perilous fight.
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming
And the rocket's red glare(-BOOM!-)
The bomb bursting in air, gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there
Oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave over the land
of the free & the home of the brave?
Singing the National Anthem at a hockey game was the scariest thing ever for me! What made me even more scared was the fact that for about 5 sec., my face was on the big screen. "I almost fainted," I told my dad. "I was really weak-kneed"
The rest of the game was fun. There were 2 fights and the home team won 4-0(YEAH!!). Emily and I also got to wear our new Charlotte Checkers jerseys to school for going to the game (our school has uniforms, so we were excited).
